Chardonnay is arguably the most popular white wine in the World.  The vineyards planted around the globe cover an area half the size of Rhode Island.  Originating in France, this variety is often considered the “grape of passage” for developing vintners.  It was launched to fame in the U.S. in 1976 when the “Judgment of Paris”, an international wine competition selected the Chateau Montelena Chardonnay over several French Burgundies, chronicled in the movie Bottleshock.
